Joan Laporta
Joan Laporta is the former president of Barcelona Football Club. In 2003, a new group of young and vibrant executives joined Barcelona Football Club, bringing about a real transformation. They are committed to enhancing the economic and social value of the club, and are prepared to build a winning team with social influence. They have implemented a series of innovative measures, including developing a unique football style, establishing the Barcelona Football Club Foundation, forming a global alliance with UNICEF, establishing a network of international solidarity centers, and adopting modern club operating procedures, policies, and standards. During the seven years of La Porta's presidency, Barcelona Club won one World Cup, two European Cups, one European Super Cup, four leagues, one Copa del Rey, three Spanish Super Cups, and three Catalan Cups. The club's annual budget has increased from 12.3 billion euros to 44.5 billion euros, and the number of members has increased from 106135 to 173701. After stepping down as the president of the football club, Laporta became a member of the Catalan Parliament and a city councilor of the Barcelona City Council. As a practicing lawyer, Laporta founded Laporta Arbos, a company composed of lawyers, economists, and a large number of professionals with business and civil service backgrounds. Their mission is to provide truly integrated services to businesses. La Porta is the mediator of the ICC International Arbitration Tribunal in Paris, the Universitat Pompeu Fabra of Pompey Fabra University, a consultant to the UPF School of Economics and Business, and a personal advisor to the Japanese Consul in Barcelona.
