In 1985, he obtained a Bachelor's degree from Harvard University. From 1987 to 1989, he served as a consultant to the World Bank and also taught at the University of Michigan. In 1991, he obtained a doctoral degree from Harvard University. In 1997, he joined Harvard Business School as an associate professor of business, government, and international economics. A book currently being written traces the root causes of China's high demand for foreign direct investment from an institutional perspective. Published works on inflation and investment control in China. In 1996, Cambridge University Press published foreign direct investment in China. In 1998, besides writing articles for professional newsletters and columns, Professor Huang also published numerous articles in the New York Times, the Asian Wall Street Journal, the International Pioneer Forum, and foreign policy.
