Jonathan Powell

From 1997 to 2007, Jonathan Powell was appointed as the office director of Prime Minister Tony Blair, whose main responsibility was to coordinate all political and non political work at 10 Downing Street. After Tony Blair was appointed as the chairman of the opposition party in 1994, Jonathan Powell served as his office director. He is the most senior member in Blair's office and has been working for Tony Blair since he was elected as the Chairman of the Labour Party. In 13 years, Jonathan Powell participated in all major events, including three successful Blair campaigns. From 1997 to 2007, Jonathan Powell was appointed as the Chief Negotiator of Northern Ireland, and due to his efforts, he brought peace to Northern Ireland that had not been in place for a long time. He also played a crucial role in the Tony Blair administration's formulation of foreign policy and political strategy. Before Jonathan Powell worked for Blair, he worked as a British diplomat for 16 years and participated in Zimbabwe's independent mediation, Portugal's accession to the European Union, coordination with China on Hong Kong's return, coordination with Russia on human rights issues in Vienna, CSCE, and the two plus four negotiations for German reunification.
