Cohen Bendett was a student leader during the May Revolution in France in 1968, known as Danny Red for his political style and hair color. He is the co chairman of the European Green Party, the European Parliament Freedom Union, and the Spinelli Group, an inter group organization of the European Parliament aimed at revitalizing federal projects in Europe. In 1994, he was elected as a member of the European Parliament. In the 1999 European Parliament elections, he once again entered French politics as the leader of the Green Party. Although he does not represent the interests of the French Green Party or may even have disagreements with it, the French media has given him strong support. In 2002, he and Italian European Parliament member Monica Frasoni became the chairman of the European Green Party. Cohen Bendett disregarded traditional left-wing politics in Europe, making him even less popular in France than in Germany. The French Green Party and left-wing forces still tend to divide between the left and right, but for the German Green Party, the moderate Realo wing has defeated the hardline Fundi wing, and alliance with the Conservative Party is no longer taboo. The third-party policy led by the center left Gerhard Schroder government has received strong support. In addition to his pro European attitude, Bendett represented Germany in the European Parliament elections in 2004 and was re elected as the male candidate with the highest number of votes. In 2010, he participated in the establishment of the JCall Propaganda Group, headquartered in Europe, to lobby the European Parliament on foreign policy issues in the Middle East.
