Nick Vujicic was born on December 4, 1982 in Melbourne, Australia, without any medical explanation or warning, he was born without arms and legs. His mother had been normal during the pregnancy and had no family history of the disease, so you can imagine how shocked his parents were when they saw their newborn boy, only to learn that he was all that the world thought he was flawed and abnormal. Nurse Dushka Vujic and her husband Pastor Boris Vujic never expected to have a son without limbs. How can their son live a normal and happy life? What should he do and who should he be when he lives in a world where everyone thinks he has a huge disability? Little did they know then and none of them knew that this beautiful little boy without limbs would one day inspire people from all walks of life and move the world. Throughout his childhood, Nick Vujicic not only faced academic and adolescent challenges, such as classmate bullying and self-esteem issues; He also struggled with low self-esteem and loneliness, asking, for example, why I was different from other children around me and why I was born without siblings. He will wonder what his purpose in life is, or if he has no purpose at all. After many frustrations and many times feeling like he was the odd one out at school, at the age of seven, Nick Vujicic tried out a number of specially designed electronic arms in the hope that he would be more similar to other children. Within a short time of using the electronic arms, Nick Vujicic realized that even though he was using them, he was different from his classmates, and that the devices were too heavy for him, significantly affecting his physical flexibility. As Nick grew older, he learned to cope with his limitations and began to be able to do more and more things on his own. He began to adapt to his environment, finding ways to do things that most people have to do with their hands and feet, such as brushing their teeth, washing their hair, typing on a computer, swimming, playing sports, and so on. Over time, Nick Vujicic began to love his living environment and accomplish greater things. In Year 7, he was elected president of the school, working with others in the student union, handling various fundraisers for local charities and disabled sports. The success of Nick Vujicic's journey and the courage and enthusiasm with which he faced life came from his faith, his family, his friends, and the people he met throughout his life who encouraged him along the way. After graduation, Nick Vujicic continued his studies and earned a double bachelor's degree in Accounting and financial planning. At the age of 19, Nick Vujicic began living out his dream of inspiring others and giving them hope through motivational speaking and his own experiences. I have found the purpose of my existence, and of course that is the purpose of my living environment and why you are suffering. Nick Vujicic believes wholeheartedly that any struggle we encounter in life has a purpose, and that our attitude towards these struggles is the only effective factor that can overcome them. In 2005, Nick was awarded the Australian Youth of the Year award, Australia's highest accolade, which recognises the talent of a young person, his service to the country and society, and his personal achievements. This honor is given only to people who are truly inspiring. Today, this young man without limbs has accomplished more than many people do in their lifetime. In 2007, Nick split his time between Brisbane, Australia, and California, USA, where he served as president and CEO of Life Without Limbs, an international non-profit organization. Since his first motivational speech at the age of 19, Nick has traveled the world, sharing his stories and experiences with billions of people and speaking to people from all walks of life, including students, teachers, youth, business people, entrepreneurs and church congregations. He has also told his story and given interviews on major television programs around the world. Now, how would Nick Vujicic feel about his own disability? He accepts it and embraces it, as sometimes he shows little tricks, and finds pleasure in the circumstances of his present life. He approaches challenges with characteristic humor, perseverance, and conviction, which often deeply inspires those around him who are developing or defining their own vision to examine their own prospects. By adopting these new definitions, Nick encourages everyone to face up to and make changes in their lives so they can begin the journey to fulfilling their dreams in life.
