Mark Beaumont became famous at the age of 23, setting a global record for cycling 18000 miles in 82 days. His journey was not funded by any party, and both the BBC and The Man who Cycles the World have reported and described his journey. In 2017, Beaumont completed a cycling trip around the world in 78 days, traveling to 16 countries and breaking two Guinness World Records. His trip was called Artemis World Cycle. Influenced by the classic novel \80 Days Around the Earth\ by French author Jules Verne, published in 1873, his initial expectation was to complete a global cycling journey within 80 days. In 2015, he cycled across Africa at a speed of 160 miles per day, shortening the cycling time record by 18 days. He put down his bicycle and rowed across the Arctic Ocean, narrowly missing his life due to a capsized boat. But he tries extreme adventure activities every year. His documentary attracted audiences from over 100 countries, and he represented the BBC in reporting on the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. Beaumont's video diary, which seeks to break the Guinness World Record, has been nominated for the BAFTA Award by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts.
