Jamie Murray Wells

简介

From 2000 to 2004, Jamie Murray Wells studied at the University of West England and obtained an Honours Bachelor's degree in English. Although he was still in college at the time, he had already researched and officially launched the Glasses Direct online retail platform. In 2004, the global optical market had not yet opened up the internet market. Over the next decade, Wells vigorously expanded its business, making the website the largest online eyewear retailer in Europe, selling over a thousand pairs of glasses per day. In this process, due to the traditional glasses market often providing consumers with fewer price and functional options, he lowered the prices of glasses online, which received strong opposition from the industry. However, he overcame these difficulties and achieved success. From the beginning, Wells was directly responsible for developing its own software to handle backend processing and logistics matters, including both customized physical products and frontend web products browsed by consumers. During a period in the 2000s, Glasses Direct was a pioneer in the field of retail innovation, launching world-class products such as the first commercial virtual trial software, CustomiEyes2005, and four free home trial boxes in 2006. In the growth phase of the business, in 2010, Wells was responsible for completing the acquisition of Sunglasses Shopcom, extending its product line to sunglasses, and in 2012, it acquired LensOncom, expanding its contact lens online retail business. In 2013, the website was acquired, and Wells joined Google UK as the company's current retail industry manager. In addition to business, from 2007 to 2010, Wells also served as an advisor to the New Enterprise Committee established by then Shadow Secretary George Osborne, and subsequently co founded StartUp Britain, an activity initiative announced in the Chancellor of the Exchequer's 2011 budget report. He helped create and manage the organization and worked with the British Prime Minister to promote it to inspire entrepreneurship in the UK. Wells provides a wide range of presentations and advice consulting services for businesses, mentors, angel investments in emerging enterprises and entrepreneurs. In 2009, he was included in the Queen's Birthday Honors List and received the Queen's Enterprise Promotion Award.
