Mrs. Barbara Jach is the chairman of the UK Board of Directors and the UK Pension Protection Fund. From 2004 to 2010, she served as the Chairman of the UK Atomic Energy Authority. She is a professional business lawyer with an exceptionally broad career and has held positions such as senior executive, chairman, and non-executive director in both private and public sectors. In her early career, Mrs. Jach was the youngest commissioner of the Securities and Exchange Commission appointed by the President of the United States, and initiated a series of reforms to open the US capital market to overseas investors and encourage Americans to engage in foreign securities investment. Afterwards, she moved to Hong Kong and became the first female executive director of the board of directors of Samuel Montague Bank, a commercial bank. She has held a series of senior positions in the banking industry in the United States and the United Kingdom. She used to be the head of the International Private Banking Group under Credit Suisse Bank in the United States and a director of the United Asset Management Group, a US based asset management company foundation. She is also the first female director of News International Group and the Vice Chairman of Youcheng Insurance Company, one of the largest insurance companies and elderly care service providers in the UK. In addition, she is also the founder and chairman of private equity investors in a London listed portfolio fund organization. Since 2010, Mrs. Jatch has been serving as the chairman of the UK Pension Protection Fund. She is also the Vice Chairman of the Nuclear Energy Reform Supervision Committee of Tokyo Electric Power Company and the Chairman of its Nuclear Safety Working Group. Previously, she served as the Chairman of the UK Atomic Energy Authority, responsible for the development and sales of its commercial department UKAEA, which was an important component of the significant restructuring of the UK nuclear industry. During this period, she also worked at the government energy group and served as a non-executive director of the then Constitutional Affairs Department. She is also the Chairman of the Advisory Committee of the British Association of Consulting Engineers. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Pennsylvania and obtained a Juris Doctor degree with honors from the New York University School of Law. She also served as a partner in an important law firm specializing in corporate and financial transactions in the United States.
