From 2007 to 2013, Jonathan Evans served as the Director of the Military Intelligence Department of the British Security Agency. As an expert on security issues, he joined the HSBC Board of Directors in 2013 and served as a non-executive director, helping the bank address financial and cybercrime issues. Lord Evans is a top spy in the UK, hailed by the Independent as a spy who emerged from the Cold War. He mainly focuses on international and domestic counter-terrorism issues, including measures to address cyber threats. As the Director General, he is a senior advisor to the UK government on national security policy and has joined the National Security Council. Evans is deeply pleased that the UK's ability to protect itself from the threat of modern Islamic terrorism has undergone a significant transformation in his work. As the head of MI5, Evans is an important advisor to the UK government in dealing with national security threats, including terrorism, cybersecurity, and espionage threats.
