Douglas Ridtick was a member of the International Monetary Fund's Board of Directors until 2012. He was nominated by President Obama to the IMF Board in 2009 and confirmed by the U.S. Senate in March 2010. The Executive Board is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the IMF, including accepting or approving all decisions, policies, supervision, and financial expenditures made by the IMF. Douglas Retick is a visiting fellow at the Peterson Institute for International Economics in Washington, considered the most prestigious think tank in the field of international economic policy research. He was chair of the World Economic Forum's Global Agenda Committee on Geopolitical Risk in 2012 and currently serves as Vice Chair. He moderated and participated in panels at the World Economic Forum in Davos on capital markets, the international monetary system, emerging markets and global governance. He previously served as a Senior Fellow and Director of the Global Strategic Finance Program at the New America Foundation. Douglas testified before the U.S. Congress on the impact of the economic crisis on foreign policy, the opportunities and threats of sovereign wealth funds and state capitalism. A frequent contributor to the Financial Times, Foreign Policy, the New Republic, The Wall Street Journal, Forbes and others, Douglas is a regular contributor to TheWashingtonNotecom.
