Jon Madonnis served as the Executive Director of the Bitcoin Foundation from 2013 to December 2014. Madonnis joined the board of directors of the Bitcoin Foundation in 2012 and is known as the authority for virtual currency, private currency, and rapidly developing electronic currencies such as Bitcoin, Greycoin, social gaming virtual currency, and stored value. Madonnis began serving as the Executive Director of the Bitcoin Foundation in July 2013 and is the oldest trading organization leader in the Bitcoin industry. Previously, he had served as a director and board secretary of the group since 2012. During his tenure as Executive Director, he was committed to expanding the Bitcoin Foundation's international influence. Madonnis is also an outstanding founding consultant for the board of directors of project companies such as Bitcoin, cryptosystems, games, mobile phones, and prepayments. He has served as the Chief Foreign Exchange Trader at Sumitomo Mitsui Bank and VISA, as well as the CEO of Hushmail. Madonnis can also provide consulting services for electronic currency projects for enterprises, covering alternative currency plans, Bitcoin configurations, compliance, management scope selection, monetization strategies, risk management, and virtual currency platforms. His research on digital currencies has been published by Dow Jones and the London School of Economics. He also serves as a columnist for Forbes, American Banker, and CoinDesk magazine. In addition, he also serves as the editor of the interdisciplinary blog space for The Monetary Future's free banking, cryptosystems, and electronic currency. Madonnis obtained a Bachelor's degree in Economics from George Washington University in 1985 and later continued his studies in Economics and Computer Software Engineering at the University of Maryland. He has given speeches to many companies and institutions on the topic of the destructive economic impact of Bitcoin and its impact.
