Sir Richard Sirleaf served as NATO's Deputy Commander in Chief for Europe from 2010 to 2014. This position is the highest that Europeans can reach, and the commander-in-chief has always been an American. Richard was born in Kenya and joined the British army after graduating from Oxford University. During his service life, he held all positions from platoon commander to division commander.
