Mai Brittmoze is a professor of neuroscience at the NTNU Neurocomputing Center at the Norwegian University of Technology in Trondheim and co director of science. Her research interests are the neural basis of spatial location and spatial memory, as well as more general cognitive functions. Through long-term collaboration with Edward Moser, grid cells were discovered in the inner olfactory cortex and other functional cell types were identified, including head oriented cells, boundary cells, velocity cells, and target vector cells, as well as the latest mechanism for representing plot time.
