Hamish MacLey is one of the most important speakers in Europe regarding the future development trends of the economy, business, and society. He is the deputy editor in chief of The London Independent and the chief economic commentator for The Independent and Sunday Independent. He is also the author of a highly acclaimed book on the future - The World of 2020: Ability, Culture, and Prosperity. Hamish's other works include his co authorship with Frances Cairncross, the capital city of London as a financial center, and his co authorship with Tadashi Nakamae, a former loyalist, to awaken Japan. His recent awards include the 2005 David Watt Prize for outstanding political journalism work; Business and Financial Journalist of the Year at the 2006 British News Awards; 2007 Business Journalist Award Correspondent of the Year. He is a visiting professor at the School of Management at Lancaster University and has previously served as a member of the Royal Society of Economics in the UK.
