William Standish Knowles(June 1, 1917 – June 13, 2012) was an Americanchemist. He was born inTaunton, Massachusetts. Knowles was one of the recipients of the 2001Nobel Prize in Chemistry. He split half the prize withRyōji Noyorifor their work inasymmetric synthesis, specifically for his work inhydrogenation reactions. The other half was awarded toK.
