Rudolph Arthur Marcus(born July 21, 1923) is a Canadian-born American chemist who received the 1992Nobel Prize in Chemistry"for his contributions to the theory ofelectron transferreactions in chemical systems".Marcus theory, named after him, provides athermodynamicandkineticframework for describing one electronouter-sphere electron transfer.He is a professor atCaltech,Nanyang Technological University,Singaporeand a member of theInternational Academy of Quantum Molecular Science.
