He has served as an academician of the American Academy of Sciences, a member of the New York Academy of Sciences, a vice president of the American Economic Association, a senior advisor to the Brookings Committee on Economic Affairs, an expert in academic meetings at the Federal Reserve, an advisor to the Financial Committee of the US Treasury and Senate, and an editorial board member of the US Economic Review.
